August Künnapu is an Estonian painter and architect. "In my paintings I try to describe the world as it is - without making it more beautiful or frghtful. Themes that I like are teh same as in real life - movies, medicine, literature, music, sports and architecture." For the Future Pavilion August Künnapu produced two big wall paintings on the main entrances of the Pavilion: Cat and the Gymnast and Lemurian. Visiting families took photos of themselves with the cat, the gymnast was maybe a bit odd and the Lemurian was obviously a quite scary.
